Cambodian minister invites Chinese travelers as visa-free entry nears

PHNOM PENH: Cambodian Minister of Tourism Huot Hak on Saturday (June 13) encouraged Chinese tourists to visit the South-East Asian country as the kingdom's pilot visa exemption for Chinese nationals approaches.

From June 15 to Oct. 15, 2026, Chinese nationals can enter Cambodia visa-free for up to 14 days, he said, adding that no application or fees are required, as travelers only need to complete an e-arrival card.

For the duration of this pilot initiative, Chinese nationals are permitted multiple entries into Cambodia, Hak said.

"Cambodia is a safe, premium and hospitable destination that will offer unforgettable memories for Chinese tourists," he added. "We are ready to provide a warm welcome, excellent service and unforgettable travel experiences, including accommodation, dining and souvenir shopping. We anticipate positive results that will attract more Chinese tourists to Cambodia."

According to Ministry of Tourism statistics, Cambodia welcomed 5.57 million international tourists in 2025. Among them, Chinese visitors exceeded 1.2 million, marking a sharp 41.5 per cent year-on-year increase.

This momentum continued into 2026, with Cambodia recording 331,199 Chinese arrivals between January and April, positioning China as the country's top source of foreign holidaymakers, the statistics showed. - Xinhua
