Father allegedly hacks three minor daughters to death in Giridih district, India

NEW DELHI: A 14-year-old girl and her six-year-old twin sisters were allegedly hacked to death by their father inside their home in Jharkhand’s Giridih district on Monday (June 8) morning, police said. The accused was arrested soon after the incident.

The killings in Turukdih village under Mufassil police station limits have left residents shocked and grieving.

Police have begun an investigation into the incident, while a forensic team has reached the village to examine the crime scene.

The deceased have been identified as Pallavi Yadav (14) and twin sisters Riddhi Yadav and Siddhi Yadav, both aged six.

According to police officials, Nandu Yadav allegedly attacked the three girls with a sharp-edged weapon inside the house, inflicting multiple injuries. The children died at the scene before help could arrive.

Family members rushed after hearing the girls scream, but were unable to stop the assault, police said.

Residents of the village said the accused’s wife and son were in another section of the house at the time and escaped unharmed.

Village in shock after killings

News of the incident spread quickly through the village, drawing large crowds to the family’s home. The deaths of the three sisters sparked grief and anger among local residents.

Mufassil police station in-charge Shyam Kishore Mahto and Sadar SDPO Jitwahan Oraon reached the spot with a police team after receiving information about the crime.

Police said the accused was taken into custody immediately and was also protected from an angry crowd that had gathered outside the house.

Probe underway, motive yet to be established

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination at Sadar Hospital, officials said.

Sadar SDPO Jitwahan Oraon said the investigation is being carried out with due sensitivity and that the motive behind the killings has not yet been established.

A forensic team has been deployed to collect scientific evidence from the scene.

Police officials said more details are expected to emerge after the post-mortem examination and interrogation of the accused. - The Statesman/ANN
