BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Brunei Darussalam recently welcomed the arrival of the cruise ship Piano Land, bringing 1,995 international passengers and 483 crew members to the Sultanate.
The vessel arrived from Kota Kinabalu as part of its regional voyage before continuing its journey to Hong Kong, China.
The latest port call further strengthens Brunei’s growing position as an attractive cruise tourism destination in Southeast Asia.
The arrival also marks another return visit by Piano Land to Brunei Darussalam, reflecting continued confidence and interest from international cruise operators in the unique tourism offerings and warm hospitality of the Sultanate.
Upon arrival, passengers were welcomed with traditional music performances, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality of Brunei, before being given the opportunity to explore several of the iconic attractions and cultural landmarks of the nation.

During their time ashore, many visitors toured notable sites, including Istana Nurul Iman, the Royal Regalia Museum, and Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, among other places of interest within the capital.
Passengers also had the opportunity to experience the peaceful atmosphere, rich Islamic heritage, and local culture of Brunei Darussalam while exploring the city and interacting with the local community.
Visitors from the cruise ship also shared positive impressions of their experience in Brunei. Edward Mak described the country as clean and peaceful, while also highlighting the friendliness and politeness of the local people during his visit.
He also appreciated the considerate driving culture in Brunei, noting the comfort and pleasant experience while exploring the destination.
Meanwhile, Li Chang Gang shared that visiting Brunei was worthwhile, particularly as it is not easy to find tour groups travelling to the Sultanate from China. He also praised the fresh and unpolluted air of the country, alongside the warm hospitality shown by the local people, describing his visit to Brunei as relaxing and enjoyable.
The continued return of cruise vessels such as Piano Land highlights the increasing appeal of Brunei among international cruise travellers seeking authentic cultural experiences, historical landmarks, and nature-based attractions.
As the 17th cruise ship to dock in Brunei this year, the arrival of the vessel further reflects the steady growth of the cruise tourism sector of the Sultanate.
Cruise tourism continues to contribute positively to the local tourism industry by supporting tourism service providers, tour operators, transportation companies, and small businesses through the growing number of international visitors arriving in the country.
