Passengers also had the opportunity to experience the peaceful atmosphere, rich Islamic heritage, and local culture of Brunei Darussalam while exploring the city and interacting with the local community.

Visitors from the cruise ship also shared positive impressions of their experience in Brunei. Edward Mak described the country as clean and peaceful, while also highlighting the friendliness and politeness of the local people during his visit.

He also appreciated the considerate driving culture in Brunei, noting the comfort and pleasant experience while exploring the destination.

Meanwhile, Li Chang Gang shared that visiting Brunei was worthwhile, particularly as it is not easy to find tour groups travelling to the Sultanate from China. He also praised the fresh and unpolluted air of the country, alongside the warm hospitality shown by the local people, describing his visit to Brunei as relaxing and enjoyable.

The continued return of cruise vessels such as Piano Land highlights the increasing appeal of Brunei among international cruise travellers seeking authentic cultural experiences, historical landmarks, and nature-based attractions.

As the 17th cruise ship to dock in Brunei this year, the arrival of the vessel further reflects the steady growth of the cruise tourism sector of the Sultanate.

Cruise tourism continues to contribute positively to the local tourism industry by supporting tourism service providers, tour operators, transportation companies, and small businesses through the growing number of international visitors arriving in the country.

Brunei also looks forward to welcoming the arrival of Villa Vie Odyssey, which is scheduled to make its maiden call to Brunei on Aug 5, 2026, further underscoring the rising profile of the Sultanate as an emerging cruise destination in the region. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
