YANGON: A ceremony was held to honour the first prize winner of the All Myanmar Buddhist Entrance Examination for the Intermediate Level Buddha Vamsa Visarada Degree, Buddha Vamsa Sukumari Degree, and Buddha Vamsa Bahusuttadhara Degree, Ma Aeint Chittu (representing Shan State, Aye Karuna Dhamma School), and the award winners.
The first prize winner of the Myanmar All-Myanmar Buddhist Confession and Offering Ceremony, Ma Aeint Chittu, and a group of young men and women arrived in Kalaw on the Saturday (June 6) morning, and returned to Taunggyi via Aung Pan, Heho, Shwe Nyaung, and Aye Tharyar, where they were warmly welcomed by local people along the way.
In Taunggyi, the procession travelled along Bogyoke Aung San Road and walked through Bogyoke Aung San Park on Min Lam.
The Shan State government's ethnic affairs ministers, ethnic literature and cultural associations, and local people welcomed and honoured them along the way.
A ceremony to welcome and honour the first prize winners of the 14th Myanmar Buddhist Confession Competition and outstanding young men and women was held at the Taunggyi City Hall on Saturday evening.
The welcoming ceremony was attended by Shan State Chief Minister Sai Htein Soe, Shan State Parliament Speaker Sai Lone Kyaw, Shan State High Court Chief Justice U Than Oo Lwin, state government members, invited guests, and local residents.
At the ceremony, outstanding young men and women from the Suthi Pyaewya Buddhist Convocation Ceremony were awarded prizes, including Ma Aeint Chitthaw, 11 central-level middle school winners, 1 primary-level winner, and 43 state-level winners.
At the celebration, the organising committee donated 39.4 million kyats, the Shan State government donated 18.6 million kyats, and the Shan State Hluttaw donated 4.5 million kyats, totaling 62.5 million kyats to honour outstanding young men and women. - Eleven Media/ANN
