Vietnam welcomes 10.6 million international visitors in first five months of 2026

HANOI: Vietnam was estimated to welcome 10.6 million international visitors in the first five months of 2026, up 14.9 per cent year on year, according to the data released Wednesday (June 3) by the National Statistics Office (NSO).

The figure marked a record high for the January-May period, driven by a stable political-social environment, open visa policies, effective tourism promotion campaigns, and improved service and tourism product quality, the NSO said.

In May alone, the country received an estimated 1.78 million international arrivals, up 16.5 per cent from the same period last year, according to the office.

Vietnam targets 25 million international arrivals and 150 million domestic tourists in 2026, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. - Xinhua
