In pursuit of dreams or seeking immediate solutions, some are willing to place their hopes in uncanny things and believe they can change their fate. However, to what extent does that belief truly help, or does it merely open the door to deception that takes advantage of human hope?
Starting from this reality, "5 Bomoh", the latest film directed by Syed Fariz, presents itself as an entertaining comedy that brings a social message close to everyday life. Set to open in cinemas nationwide starting on Thursday (June 4, 2026), this film invites viewers to examine a phenomenon that often occurs in society through a light-hearted, entertaining, and educational perspective.
Published by Global Station Sdn Bhd, distributed by Skop Production Sdn Bhd, and marketed by Primeworks Studios in collaboration with Mask Team, 5 Bomoh features a lineup of well-known actors such as Datuk Aaron Aziz, Scha Alyahya, Khairy Jamaludin, Ungku Hariz, Tiara Rose, Dato Afdlin Shauki, Johan, Datuk Amy Search, Aedy Ashraf, and Ozlynn Waty. The combination of actors from various backgrounds makes this film fresher with a variety of comedic antics and situations that invite laughter.

But what makes the movie even more special is that one of the film's biggest attractions, besides star-studded casting, is the introduction of former minister Khairy, also a well-known radio presenter and a hard-hitting podcaster with 'Keluar Sekejap', who takes on the enigmatic role of Mr K, a mysterious figure throughout the show.
On top of that, it is always a treat for fans to watch Malaysian rock legend Amy Search as Bomoh Alami, by far a super cool character in the movie.
"5 Bomoh" tells the story of Rashdan (Aaron Aziz), a businessman who has believed in superstitions and ancestral advice since childhood. Unlike his wife, Sakinah (Scha Alyahya), who adheres more to religious teachings and believes in science, education, and the power of prayer in facing every life challenge.
Everything changed when their daughter, Nisa (Tiara Rose), failed to achieve excellent results in the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) trial examination. Desperate for his child to be the first in the family to pursue studies abroad, Rashdan began to panic and sought various ways to ensure his dream came true.

According to Syed Fariz, "5 Bomoh" is not just a comedy film but also a work rich in social satire that invites the audience to view societal realities in a more relaxed manner.
"Through comedy, we try to convey the message that there are no shortcuts to achieving success. Sometimes, people are too quick to believe in things that promise immediate results, forgetting that effort, knowledge, and prayer are the true foundations for achieving any dream. Although delivered in a light and entertaining manner, the message conveyed in this film is very close to our lives," he said.
At the same time, Syed said "5 Bomoh" also touches on family relationships, parental pressure on children, and the tendency of people to seek easy solutions when facing life's challenges. With a blend of fresh comedic elements, observations of societal realities, and relevant messages, this film offers a viewing experience suitable for the whole family.
According to Global Station executive producer Zetty Alia Ramly, the casting decisions were made with careful thought and a clear creative vision in mind.
"We wanted to present something relatable. When you mention 'bomoh' (shaman), everyone has their own perceptions or experiences. So we chose to tell this story in an entertaining yet meaningful way," she said at the film's official launch in KL on June 3.

Meanwhile, Khairy said venturing into acting was something he had long wanted to explore and added that he has always been a huge movie fan since he was a child.
“Like many other kids of the 80s, most of us just love movies. And I also grew up watching many films from the 1970s. The golden era of movies and a film like "The Godfather" is unforgettable.
"I have acted in shorts film but this is my first time acting in a feature film. I learned a lot from this experience,” said Khairy after the gala premiere on June 3.
“When the offer came, I looked at the character and saw that, although it wasn’t the main role, it was something I felt I could handle and portray well. I felt that the character being presented was a good fit for me and not too far from my own personality,” said Khairy.
“It is a family-friendly movie that carries an important message, but presents it in a light-hearted and comedic manner. It also helped me to get into the role for my second movie that will be released early next year."
And as for the new movie, Khairy said the title, role, story, and genre are all currently kept under wraps. It's all a secret for now," smiled Khairy.
Don't miss the chance to watch 5 Bomoh in cinemas nationwide starting June 4, 2026. Get ready to follow a family's chaotic adventure, and it promises various wonders but ultimately opens your eyes to the true value of effort and knowledge. At its core, the film actually carries a deeper message about effort, accountability, and faith.
