KUALA LUMPUR: TCL, a global technology industry group with an annual revenue exceeding RM206 billion (356 billion yuan), has announced its product and commercial strategy for Malaysia for the year 2026 with the debut of its proprietary SQD-Mini LED technology and a full portfolio of smart home products.
This move is expected to strengthen TCL's focus on the mid to premium segment and the expansion of international markets.
Recognised as a reputable and trusted television brand, TCL has grown to become one of the world's leading TV manufacturers, with increasing popularity in various global markets.
TCL's global TV shipments exceeded 30 million units in 2025, further solidifying its leading position in the Mini LED and 98-inch large screen TV categories. TCL also dominates 50 percent of the global Mini LED market.
Managing Director of TCL Malaysia, Carolyn Qiu, said that Malaysia is a strategic growth market for the expansion of TCL's Smart IoT Ecosystem. "With SQD-Mini LED technology, we are not just launching a product; we are setting a new benchmark for display technology in the premium segment."

In the field of technology, TCL continues to actively develop advanced display technology and artificial intelligence, with a commitment to driving the development and application of high-performance display products.
TCL CSOT, as a leading global semiconductor display technology company, has invested nearly RM170 billion (300 billion yuan) to build a world-class industrial chain and lead in technology and ecosystem, as well as develop new display technologies such as inkjet-printed OLED, Micro-LED, and Mini-LED.
"In recent years, the Mini-LED market has grown rapidly, and its growth rate has outpaced OLED, making it the technology of choice for flagship TVs worldwide."
"The pioneering position and leadership of TCL in the Mini-LED field not only reflect market preferences but also technological strength," she added.
The company is also reported to be commercialising three generations of Mini LED in Malaysia. The flagship model X11L, featuring SQD-Mini LED with a peak brightness of 10,000 nits and 20,736 precise dimming zones, targets the ultra-premium segment. The C8L and C7L series, on the other hand, extend SQD-Mini LED to the high-volume premium market with brightness up to 6,000 nits. All models are equipped with an audio system tuned by Bang & Olufsen.
"SQD-Mini LED outperforms OLED in terms of brightness, lifespan, and total cost of ownership, while also eliminating the risk of burn-in." For retail partners and consumers who invest in a 5–7 year renewal cycle, this reliability provides real value. "This is TCL's advantage in the premium segment," said Carolyn.

TCL also introduced the VoxIN Air Conditioner Series with T-AI smart energy-saving technology, which can save up to 37 percent energy compared to conventional models – a significant advantage in the current situation of rising energy costs. Offline voice control and self-cleaning functions also reduce maintenance complexity for channel partners.
TCL's home appliance portfolio emphasises built-in aesthetics and capacity. The slim built-in refrigerator with 1cm cabinet integration and T-Fresh sterilisation technology, as well as the C682 washing machine with a 540mm Super Drum and Auto Dose, target the rapidly growing premium urban residential segment in Malaysia.
"TCL's 2026 products align with our global strategy, which is to drive penetration in the mid to premium segments, leverage Olympic partnerships to enhance the brand, and deliver real value through energy efficiency and ecosystem integration," he added.
For the record, TCL signed an agreement in February 2025 to become the global partner of the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympics, thereby helping to bring the event into a new era of technology and providing immersive viewing experiences to global users through the latest display technology.
Over the past five years, through its two industrial groups, TCL Industries and TCL Technology, TCL's total revenue increased from over RM96 billion (165.9 billion yuan) in 2020 to over RM206 billion (356 billion yuan), with an average annual growth rate of 16.5%.
