Supported by the Malaysian Ministry of Education, YoungStarz Tour unveils three budding young singers

Three young singers were successfully unearthed at the YoungStarz Tour (YST) Radio Lagu Hits 2026 competition which opened the school tour series at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Putrajaya Presint 18 (1) on Sunday (April 19).

The inaugural singing competition was jointly organised by recording label Sony Music Entertainment Malaysia with artist management company MindOrder Sdn Bhd and supported by the Ministry of Education Malaysia.

Haieqal Daienish, 16, who performed the song Bintang (originally sung by Budak Kacamata) was crowned champion. Meanwhile, Haifa Sufiya, 13, took second place with the song Hero (Mariah Carey) and Syafi Rayyan, 16, who performed Sampai Hati (Spring) was in third place.

The winner took home RM500, the runner-up received RM300 and the third place RM300, in addition to a certificate of participation each.

All 18 participants competing in YST 2026 were selected from 200 initial entries from school students via the Radio Lagu Hits social media platform.

YST 2026 was judged by singer Azzam Sham and vocal teacher and singer, Afif Tirmizie. The event was also enlivened by performances by popular singers such as Naqiu, Kidd Santhe, NAZU and Adrianna Cinta.

Naqiu spoke on behalf of MindOrder Sdn Bhd, said the competition is a positive initiative to unearth budding entertainers among the youth.

“This is the first time a singing competition organized by an artist management company and a recording company held in a school. It is a smart move and effective idea to reach out to talented teenagers in singing.

“We did not expect more than 200 students to send entries via the social media platform but only 18 managed to pass the screening stage and compete today.

"I am very satisfied with their performance. They are all talented and have the potential to become professional entertainers one day," he said, who also performed the songs Episod Cinta and Juwita.

Meanwhile, Kidd Santhe believes that this event is more than just a singing competition.

"It is a healthy activity for young people in line with the government's vision in shaping a more competitive young generation.

"It is also an inspiration to young people, especially school students, to choose positive interests and work hard to pursue their dreams," he said.

Kidd Santhe, who performed two songs, Ambani Money and Haa Tepok, also shared a 20-minute inspirational talk on the determination to pursue dreams.

Next, the YST 2026 tour will take place in several locations to be announced, including Johor, Melaka, Pahang, Penang and Kelantan, next June.
