VIENTIANE: Secretary General of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and President of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith, has extended New Year greetings to the Lao people, calling for continued national unity and collective efforts to advance sustainable development as the country enters the Year of the Horse (B.E. 2569).
In a nationally broadcast message delivered from the Presidential Office, the President conveyed his warmest wishes to citizens across the country, Lao communities abroad, and foreign nationals living and working in Laos.
Reflecting on the past year, President Thongloun described the Year of the Snake (B.E. 2568) as a period of significant achievement and national pride.
He highlighted key milestones, including the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Lao PDR, the successful convening of the 12th National Party Congress, and the election of new members of the 10th National Assembly and 5th Provincial People’s Councils.
Despite global and domestic challenges, the President noted that Laos had maintained political stability, preserved social order, and recorded positive economic recovery and growth.
He attributed these achievements to strong national unity and the continued support of friendly countries and international organisations.
The President also made mention of Laos’ growing role on the regional and international stages, saying these developments are helping to guide Laos toward a new phase of development.
Looking ahead, President Thongloun acknowledged that the global environment remains complex, with ongoing conflicts and uncertainties in various regions. He urged all sectors of society to strengthen their patriotism and unity, and to work closely with the Party Central Committee and the government to overcome these challenges.
He called for renewed efforts to implement the Resolution adopted by the 12th Party Congress and the goals of the 10th five-year National Socio-Economic Development Plan, with a focus on delivering concrete results and advancing a green and sustainable development path.
Concluding his message, the President extended his best wishes for good health, happiness and success to all Lao people, as well as foreign residents contributing to the country’s development, expressing the hope that Lao New Year will be celebrated peacefully, joyfully, and safely. - Vientiane Times/ANN
