Phone snatcher killed in motorcycle crash while fleeing in Yangon

YANGON: A man who snatched a mobile phone and attempted to flee on a sidecar motorcycle in Hlaingtharyar Township in western Yangon died after crashing into another sidecar motorcycle and a utility pole, according to the Thway Dana Myo Set Social Rescue Association.

The incident occurred in Ward No. (1) of Hlaingtharyar Township. The suspect was reportedly escaping on a sidecar motorcycle when he collided with another sidecar motorcycle.

He then crashed into a utility pole, suffered a severe head injury and died at the scene.

“The man who fled after snatching phones with a sidecar motorcycle collided with another sidecar motorcycle and then hit a utility pole, resulting in a fatal head injury,” the rescue association wrote on social media.

The driver of the other sidecar motorcycle sustained a fracture to his right lower leg. Both the deceased and the injured were transported to Hlaingtharyar People’s Hospital for emergency treatment.
