Myanmar authorities urge caution as temperatures rise

YANGON: As temperatures soar across Myanmar, the Ministry of Health has issued preventive and safety guidelines for the public, the state-owned daily The Mirror, citing the health ministry, reported on Thursday (March 19).

The health ministry said in a statement that the public is urged to take precautions, particularly for children, the elderly and individuals with chronic health conditions.

These groups are advised to rest in cool, shaded and well-ventilated areas and avoid strenuous activity under hot temperatures, the report said.

According to the country's Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, temperatures in many cities and towns across the country reached approximately 40 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, with Chauk recording 40.4 degrees Celsius, Magway 39.9 degrees Celsius, and Minbu 39 degrees Celsius. - Xinhua
