Thai King and Queen arrive in Laos on state visit

VIENTIANE: King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana arrived in Vientiane on Monday (March 16) to begin a three-day state visit to Laos.

The royal couple landed at Wattay International Airport to a warm welcome from Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith, who led a delegation of Lao and Thai officials.

The visit is taking place from March 16 to 18 at the invitation of President Thongloun Sisoulith, aiming to strengthen friendship and deepen the long-standing cooperation between Laos and Thailand.

The state visit reflects the close relationship between the two countries, which share a long border and strong cultural ties and are closely linked through trade, development efforts, and regional cooperation.

The visit also highlights the enduring friendship between the Lao and Thai peoples, maintained through regular high-level exchanges and cooperation in numerous fields.

During their stay, King Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida will meet Lao government leaders to discuss ways to further strengthen cooperation.

Their Majesties will visit the Huayxone-Huayxua Agricultural Development Service Centre to learn about agricultural development in Laos.

The King and Queen are also scheduled to visit the Ancient Lao Silk Weaving Centre and the That Luang Vientiane Museum, which showcase Lao culture and traditional crafts.

The visit is expected to further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Laos and Thailand, reflecting the spirit of good neighbourliness and partnership between the two countries. - Vientiane Times/ANN
