Zaki Yamani-Ahmad Merrah, the sons of legendary Malaysian superstars, release festive single 'Raya tak nak single.'

The local music industry is set to be brightened by the release of a new Eid single titled “Raya Tak Nak Single,” a collaboration between two new-generation figures, Zaki Yamani and Ahmad Merrah.

This single and its official video will officially met listeners and music fans in the country on all digital platforms on Wednesday (March 11).

“Raya Tak Nak Single” is a song co-written by Emeer Bakri and Amsyar Razqa, and produced through a collaboration between A>Cap Music and Sony Music Malaysia. The song presents a fresh, relaxed, and character-filled musical style, fitting the spirit of a more modern celebration that resonates with today's generation.

At 20 and 19 years old, Zaki Yamani and Ahmad Merrah prove that artistic legacy is not just inherited but must be translated with one's own identity and voice. Zaki is the son of legend Datuk Jamal Abdillah, while Merrah is the son of Dato’ Awie (Wings). However, this project features them as young talents standing on their own merit.

The music video for “Raya Tak Nak Single” is a special element in this project, as both artists portray characters inspired by the film roles of their respective fathers – a symbolic tribute to the artistic legacy that raised them.

Directed by Esham, the music video combines classic cinematic elements with a modern visual approach suitable for today's digital audience's taste.

Also making a special appearance is Nazu, an artist from Sony Music Malaysia known for her unique persona, playing the role of the coveted girl in the video's narrative.

According to Zaki Yamani: “This project is very close to my heart. It’s not just an Eid song, but a tribute to my family’s artistic journey. At the same time, I want the current generation to see that we also have our own identity.”

"I would like to take this opportunity to my mom (Fatimatuzahra Samat) for her never ending support in my career. She has been the one that has  encouraged me all the way in becoming a musician," said the young Zaki, a music-tech student at MSU in Shah Alam.

Meanwhile, rock legend Awie's son Ahmad Merah said while music is and always been his first love, his mind right now is also focussed on his studies. Ahmad Merrah is a business administration at a local university.

Ahmad Merrah shared: “This is my first time entering the recording world and acting in a music video with such a meaningful concept. It’s an experience that opens new avenues in my artistic journey.

"My dad has always been a rock for me and I always look up to him for guidance. If music fans watch the video, they will realise that I even dressed up like my dad in some of the scenes.”

For the record, With a strong influence on social media, both artists have significant reach among the younger generation: Zaki Yamani (• Instagram: 1.1 million followers; • TikTok: 464.7 thousand followers) and Ahmad Merrah (• Instagram: 30.2 thousand followers and • TikTok: 189.9 thousand followers).
