YANGON: Myanmar on Thursday (Mar 5) held a ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) mechanism in Nay Pyi Taw, highlighting achievements made under the regional cooperation framework over the past decade.
Among the attendees were Myanmar's Union Minister for Foreign Affairs Than Swe and Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ma Jia, who delivered speeches at the ceremony.
Ma said that over the past decade, the six LMC countries have made solid progress in building a community with a shared future, making significant contributions to regional development and common prosperity.
Facing a turbulent international situation, the six countries should prioritize regional peace and the well-being of their people, and work together to advance "Lancang-Mekong Cooperation 2.0" and build a better future, she said.
Than Swe said that under the leadership of the six countries' leaders, the LMC mechanism has achieved fruitful results in various fields and has grown into the most successful cooperation mechanism in the Mekong River region.
He expressed his heartfelt gratitude for China's support and looked forward to even greater achievements for the LMC mechanism in the future.
An exhibition of photos showcasing LMC achievements was also held at the event.
