JAKARTA: The Iranian Embassy in Jakarta welcomed Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s readiness to mediate in the ongoing conflict involving the Islamic republic.

In a statement issued on Sunday (March 1), the embassy expressed its appreciation for the consistent support of the Government and the people of Indonesia.

It also called on the Indonesian officials to continue taking a firm stance in condemning the aggression and crimes of the United States and the Zionist regime of Israel.

"America’s hostility towards Iran is not new and is rooted in seven decades of Iran’s history,” the embassy said.

The attack on Iran on Saturday occurred at a time when the country and the United States (US) were in the midst of a diplomatic process, demonstrating its determination to achieve a diplomatic and comprehensive solution based on regional and international peace and stability.

Iran on Sunday had also confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several top officials in the Israeli and US attacks on the country.

The embassy said the US and the Zionist regime of Israel had justified their actions under the pretext of helping the Iranian people, but their actions had instead resulted in civilian casualties and destruction.

"Under the same pretext, they hijacked the peaceful protests of the Iranian people in January 2026 into violent riots.

"It is now evident how they ‘help’ the Iranian people with missile attacks targeting innocent women and children in elementary schools, sports clubs, residential homes, and other locations - and all this during the holy month of Ramadan,” it said. - Bernama
