BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Prison Department under the Ministry of Home Affairs through its Rehabilitation and Reintegration Division organised the Program Kasih Ramadan as an initiative to support and engage former inmates (Rakan Seliaan) in conjunction with the month of Ramadan.

Acting Director of the Prison Department Bahrin Mohammad Yassin was the guest of honour at the event held at the At-Taqwa Meeting Room, Prison Department Training Centre.

The event saw a Tadarus Al-Quran session for officers and staff of the Prison Department as well as a Ramadan tazkirah and the presentation of basic food assistance to 30 former inmates.

The contributions were sponsored by Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam and Persatuan Aftercare Support Association. The initiative reflects the Prison Department’s commitment, together with its partners, to safeguarding the welfare and well-being of former inmates in line with its rehabilitation and social reintegration approach.

The programme aimed to instill values of compassion, care and moral support for former inmates, enabling them to share the joy and blessings of Ramadan. – James Kon
