Brunei royal family attend Chinese New Year open houses

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah Hassanal Bolkiah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and Pengiran Anak Isteri Sarah Salleh Ab Rahaman visited several Chinese New Year open houses on Tuesday (Feb 17)

The royal couple were accompanied by their children Pengiran Anak Muneerah Madhul Bolkiah, Pengiran Muda Muhammad Aiman, and Pengiran Anak Faathimah Az-Zahraa’ Raihaanul Bolkiah.

The royal family visited the residence of Dato Jack Ting and the residences of Chieng Ing Nang, Gilbert Tiong and Dato’ Sri Lau Kung Ching.

Meanwhile, Princess Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Abu Bakar graced the open house of Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin and his family.

Cabinet ministers, senior government officers and officers as well as members of the diplomatic corps to Brunei, private sectors and business community were among those present.

The Chinese New Year of the Horse is one of the most eagerly anticipated celebrations in the lunar calendar, symbolising energy, strength and forward movement.

Observed by Chinese communities around the world, the festival marks the beginning of a new year based on the traditional lunar calendar and is steeped in centuries-old customs and cultural meaning. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
