MANILA (Bloomberg): Two incumbent Philippine senators were named "co-perpetrators” in former President Rodrigo Duterte’s crimes against humanity case before the International Criminal Court.

Senators Ronald Dela Rosa and Christopher "Bong” Go were among others, including several former police officers, named in an ICC document released Feb. 13.

Dela Rosa was the national police chief during the Duterte administration, while Go was a long-time aide to the former leader. Both men were re-elected last year for another six-year term.

Duterte, who led the South-East Asian nation from 2016 to 2022, launched a war against drugs that killed thousands of people. He has been detained in The Hague since March and is set for a pre-trial hearing on Feb. 23.

"Duterte and his co-perpetrators shared a common plan or agreement to ‘neutralise’ alleged criminals in the Philippines (including those perceived or alleged to be associated with drug use, sale or production) through violent crimes, including murder,” the document said.

Go denied the "entirely unfounded” allegations in the ICC document. "Let me be clear, at no time did I have any involvement in, knowledge of, or authority over these allegations,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

A representative for Dela Rosa did not immediately respond to a request for comment outside normal business hours.
