MANILA: The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded two ash-emission events from the summit crater of Mayon Volcano on Friday (Feb 13) morning.

In a Facebook post, Phivolcs shared time-lapse footage of the emissions, recorded at 8:21am and 8:27am.

“These events generated a grayish plume that rose 50m above the crater before drifting west-southwest,” Phivolcs said.

In its 24-hour observation summary, Phivolcs also recorded lava effusion with lava flow in its three gullies: Basud, Bonga, and Mi-isi.

Sulfur dioxide flux was measured at 3,749 tons per day as of Feb 10.

The state seismology bureau announced that Alert Level 3 remains in effect over Mayon Volcano.

Under this alert level, entry into the 6-kilometer permanent danger zone is prohibited. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
