Cambodian Majas Chamkar partners with Malaysia's Jemaluang Dairy Valley in RM39mil dairy farm

PHNOM PENH (Bernama): Malaysia’s Jemaluang Dairy Valley Sdn Bhd has partnered with Cambodian DP Majas Chamkar Co Ltd to launch a RM39 million (US$10 million) integrated dairy farm and fresh milk processing facility in the Kingdom.

Both companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Feb 7 in Phnom Penh to kick start the project, reported state media Agence Kampuchea Presse on Tuesday.

"Success in dairy isn't just about having the cows, it is about the technical skill in nutrition, care, and the production chain.

"Our focus will be on quality, safety, and hygiene to ensure Cambodian consumers receive premium-grade fresh milk,” said Jemaluang Dairy Valley chief executive officer (CEO) Qasem Alhasan.

Majas Chamkar CEO Tieng Phalla and Qasem signed the agreement, which aims to boost fresh milk production to meet rising domestic demand.

As an initial step, the companies have ordered 500 dairy cattle from Australia with operations expected to commence in the coming months, reported the state media.

"By partnering with a Malaysian leader who holds international technical standards, we are not just seeking profit. We are focused on creating jobs and building a 'Product of Cambodia' brand that the nation can be proud of,” said Phalla.

According to the report, Majas Chamkar, which operates in the livestock sector, manages over 3,000 heads of premium cattle, including Japanese Wagyu, Australian Angus, American Brahman and French Charolais.
