NEW DELHI: A 14-year-old girl was found murdered in Thodiyapulam in Kerala’s Malappuram district.

The body of the Class IX student was found in a bush near the railway track between Vaniyampalam and Thodiyapulam.

When the girl, who had gone to school on Thursday, didn’t return home, her mother filed a complaint with the Karuvarakkundu Police.

The police confirmed that the child had alighted from the bus in front of the school.

The body of the girl in school uniform with her hands tied was found near the railway track between Vaniyampalam and Thodiyapulam on Friday (Jan 16).

The police have taken a 16-year-old Plus One student, reportedly the girl’s boyfriend, into custody in the matter.

It is reported that the boy confessed to the crime.

When the police took him into custody, the accused himself showed the body of the girl in the bush.

The murder was reportedly committed by strangulation. - The Statesman/ANN
