Stranded dolphin rescued by Filipino fishermen


DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan: A stranded dolphin was found injured near the mangrove ecopark in Alaminos City and rescued by a fisherman at around 10am on Wednesday (Jan 7).

The dolphin, “which has no buoyancy,” will be brought to the rehabilitation facility at the Hundred Islands National Park of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).

‌The BFAR has prepared a boat for the transport of the marine mammal, said Antonieta Evangelista, Pangasinan provincial fishery officer.

VDr Ronaldo Abarra, a veterinarian in Alaminos City, has provided first aid to the dolphin and is identifying its species. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
