BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Twenty-one trainees from various sectors in Brunei completed a month-long systematic training programme at the Chongqing Youth Vocational and Technical College (CYVTC) recently.
The closing ceremony for the Brunei Intelligent Elderly Care Mid-to-Senior Management Training Programme was organised by the Lan-Mekong China Education and Training Promotion Alliance (LCETPA) and CYVTC at the Yunzhuan Mountain campus.
Chongqing Chinese Vocational Education Association Executive Deputy Director Wang Lin, CYVTC President Feng Huizong, Brunei National Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Abdul Saman Ahmad and LCETPA Chairman Yang Donglun were present.
Funded by the Chongqing Municipal Government Scholarship for International Students under the Silk Road Initiative, the programme was guided by the philosophy of ‘Empowering Elderly Care with Digital Intelligence, Building a Shared Future Along the Silk Road’.
It focussed on aligning the application of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with the “Healthy Brunei 2023” strategy and talent demands, establishing a comprehensive “theory + practice + culture” training framework.
LCETPA led key aspects including recruitment and needs assessments, partnering with the Embassy of Brunei in China, the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation for Vocational and Technical Education and Training (SEAMEO VOCTECH), Universiti Brunei Darussalam and the Brunei National Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
During the training, LCETPA provided support including class coordination and translation, while CYVTC developed and delivered the curriculum.
Trainees studied traditional elderly care techniques and modern care concepts, participated in field visits and showcased achievements such as Baduanjin exercises and aromatic sachet crafting. Six trainees were honoured as “Outstanding Participants”.
National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Brunei Darussalam President Abdul Saman Ahmad noted that LCETPA and Bruneian institutions have deepened cooperation in industry-academia-research integration, facilitating exchanges of delegations to China. Representatives exchanged gifts and solidified intentions for further cooperation.
The programme established a tripartite collaboration bridge linking China and Brunei, facilitating preliminary partnerships between Bruneian enterprises and Chongqing healthcare institutions.
Looking ahead, LCETPA will continue to deepen cooperation with CYVTC and Bruneian bodies.
Efforts will focus on elderly care and vocational skills, optimising talent training programmes and expanding cooperation formats including joint education initiatives and specialised skill certifications.
LCETPA will also collaborate with institutions across Southeast Asia to promote cross-border talent exchange mechanisms and industrial resource-sharing platforms. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
