Brunei shines at SEA Games opening ceremony

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Brunei Darussalam’s national flag was flying high among the participating countries during the grand opening ceremony of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Rajamangala National Stadium, Bangkok Thailand.

His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Her Majesty Queen Suthida of Thailand presided over the opening ceremony.

This year, Brunei Darussalam sent a 135-member contingent including 65 athletes to compete in nine sports at the 33rd SEA Games namely swimming, weightlifting, netball, karate, pencak silat, polo, sepak takraw, taekwondo and wushu.

Brunei national wushu athlete Walid Lachkar was the Brunei flag-bearer.

Leading the Brunei Darussalam contingent is Director of Youth and Sports Umi Kalthum Abdul Karim as the Chef de Mission of the Brunei Contingent. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
