PHNOM PENH: Anti-drug police have arrested six Chinese nationals and a Cambodian and seized almost 40 kilogrammes of drugs and chemical precursors at five different locations across Phnom Penh, in a series of raids which targeted a high-level drug distribution network.
The Anti-Drug Department reported on Wednesday (Dec 3), that the case involved the production, trafficking and use of narcotics.
The raids took place on Nov 29, under the direction of Lieutenant General Khoeng Sarath, director of the Anti-Drug Department, in cooperation with the Phnom Penh Municipal Police.
Among the seized drugs were 12.174 kilogrammes of cocaine, 5.821 kilogrammes of MDMA and a small amount of dried cannabis. A total of 22.884 kilogrammes of precursor chemicals were also confiscated, along with assorted drug paraphernalia.
The suspects have been sent to court for legal proceedings.
On Dec 2, the police made eight additional drug-related cases across the kingdom. Two of the cases involved trafficking, and netted 19 arrests, while five involved the “transportation and storage” of narcotics and saw 13 arrests. - The Phnom Penh Post/ANN
