YANGON: Independent candidate Win Kyaw held an election campaign rally on 30 November in Aye Tharyar city, Taunggyi Township, Southern Shan State, according to local reports.
Win Kyaw is contesting for a Pyithu Hluttaw seat (Lower House) and is running in Taunggyi Township.
On the morning of 30 November 2025 at 9:00 AM, Win Kyaw’s campaign team held a billboard-raising ceremony near the entrance gate of Aye Tharyar, close to the arch landmark, and distributed campaign pamphlets to solicit public support.
“I left government service and have been doing philanthropic work for eight years, so I’ve constantly engaged with the public and encountered many ground realities,” Win Kyaw said in a public statement.
“The key issue in our region is drugs. Dealers seem to live peacefully while young users — our children — are arrested and end up detained. I will expose drug cases, scrutinise those involved, and submit parliamentary proposals for investigation and legal action.”
He added that corruption is the second major problem. “Rising commodity prices are a byproduct of corruption. Many corrupt practices involve departmental officials. Once I enter parliament, I’ll push for effective enforcement and accountability,” he said.
His campaign charter titled “Vote Win Kyaw to elevate livelihoods” outlines nine key pledges focussed on community welfare, anti-drug enforcement and anti-corruption action.
Taunggyi Township is set to see participation from eight political parties in the upcoming election.
In addition to Win Kyaw, other independent candidates contesting in different parliamentary categories include state parliament contender Tin Ma Ma Maung, ethnic representative candidate Zaw Min Oo, and upper-house aspirant Moe Kalyar Naing.
National-level upper house candidate Moe Kalyar Naing and senate contender Moe Kalyar Naing are also contesting independently in their respective seats. - Eleven Media/ANN
