PHNOM PENH (Xinhua): Cambodia and New Zealand on Saturday vowed to further enhance bilateral relations and cooperation for the benefit of the two countries and peoples.
The commitment was made during a meeting at the Peace Palace in the capital Phnom Penh between Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Manet and visiting New Zealand's Foreign Minister Winston Peters, said a news release from the prime minister's spokesperson unit.
Both sides "discussed strengthening and expanding cooperation in key sectors, including trade, investment, education, agriculture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, as well as promoting collaboration within regional and international frameworks", the press release said.
Meanwhile, Hun Manet said that Cambodia was eager to see stronger trade and investment relations between the two countries.
He also thanked New Zealand for its long-standing support for Cambodia's peace process and socio-economic development from the 1990s to the present.
For his part, Peters emphasized that New Zealand remained a long-standing partner of Cambodia and will continue to support, strengthen, and expand bilateral cooperation.
He thanked Cambodia for its support for New Zealand-Asean relations, particularly for endorsing the establishment of the "Asean-New Zealand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership," which was officially announced during the 47th Asean Summit in Malaysia last month.
Peters arrived in Cambodia on Friday for a two-day official visit at the invitation of his Cambodian counterpart, Prak Sokhonn. - Xinhua
