Indonesia launches AI-powered tourism platform to enhance global competitiveness

JAKARTA (Xinhua): Indonesia has launched the Meticulous Artificial Intelligence of Indonesia (MaiA) platform to strengthen tourism services and boost global competitiveness.

The Ministry of Tourism said the digital curator helps travelers find trip inspiration and instantly create routes with personalized destination recommendations, automatic itineraries, interactive maps, and multilingual information.

Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said MaiA is a response to shifting global traveler behavior, which demands personalized, efficient, and easily accessible travel experiences.

"The launch of MaiA is the actual implementation of the government's commitment to establishing a smart, inclusive, and sustainable tourism ecosystem," Widiyanti said at the launch event themed Transforming Travel Beyond Ordinary Through Intelligence in Jakarta.

Widiyanti expressed the hope that the platform would strengthen Indonesia's competitiveness in the global market while supporting sustainable and user-friendly tourism development. - Xinhua
