A top hit in the current movie circuit in the region, the film "Rangga dan Cinta" not only recalls the legendary love story that once conquered the hearts of millions of viewers, but also opens a new chapter for two young actors who are now in the news, El Putra Sarira and Leya Princy.
The hit movie from Indonesia is a throwback to the charming "Apa itu Cinta" which captured millions of hearts with its everlasting love story two decades ago.
The pairing of these two new stars brings a unique warmth, not only because they portray iconic characters, but also because of the way they bring the story to life with emotional honesty and full of flavour, adding spice to the world of "Rangga dan Cinta".
El “Shadday” Putra Sarira as Rangga
El Putra Sarira was born on December 30, 2003 in West Papua, growing up far from the hustle and bustle of the city. His journey to Jakarta took him almost 12 hours of flight, while during high school, he had to take a six-hour boat ride to get to his boarding school.
After finishing school, El continued his studies at Dipa University Makassar, South Jakarta; it was there that his love for the world of art began to grow.
His perseverance and courage finally paid off when he successfully passed the audition for "Rangga dan Cinta". What's more special, he was selected by Nicholas Saputra himself, the original actor of the role of Rangga in "Ada Apa Dengan Cinta?," which is akin to the legacy baton was now being passed to him.
Harleyava “Leya” Princy as Cinta
For Leya Princy, the world of art is not something foreign or new. Born on November 18, 2006, in Jakarta, she grew up in an artistic family, with both her parents, Perry Maryadi and Risma Nilawati, who are both famous actors in Indonesia.
With artistic blood flowing through her, Leya began to make a name for herself through the web series "Pernikahan Dini", and now "Rangga dan Cinta" is her first film in which she plays the main character.
In addition to acting, Leya is also active in singing under the Trinity Optima Productions label, showing that her talent is not limited to one branch of art. Although still young, the charisma and maturity she brings to the screen have amazed many, as if the soul of “Cinta” is already embedded in her.
Now and the Future
Since the release of "Rangga dan Cinta", social media has been flooded with praise for the compatibility of these two young actors. From comments like “How cute ya Allah” to “They really match!”, it is clear that viewers are not only captivated by their on-screen pairing, but also fall in love with the closeness that radiates, both inside and outside the film.
When asked the secret behind their compatibility, El Putra Sarira admitted that it all started from the desire to truly get to know each other’s characters.
“To create that chemistry, we talked a lot about our characters. Sometimes Leya would ask me, ‘Is Cinta like this?’ or ‘What kind of person is Rangga?’ From there, we exchanged ideas. Sometimes we went out together to places that our characters liked, for example, to a bookstore, so that we could feel the same world.”
Leya Princy also shared her views, “We tried to understand what was going on in Rangga and Cinta’s minds, and delve into their souls by delving into the characters and trying new things."
From two different backgrounds, El Putra Sarira and Leya Princy meet at the same point. They bring back the warmth, poetry, and magic of classic love in a younger and more relevant version for today's generation.
Witness for yourself how the two of them rewrite the history of love on the silver screen in their own way. For those super movies who just love a bittersweet movie, ala this regional style, then catch the movie which is currently playing in local cinemas.
