In celebrating its 19th year since establishment, FOMSO to host the Gala Dinner 2025 in support of education and welfare initiatives


KUALA LUMPUR: The Federation of Malaysian Sri Lankan Organisations (FOMSO) continues its longstanding commitment to community service with the upcoming FOMSO Gala Dinner 2025, to be held on November 15, 2025, at Bangunan Peladang, Jalan Templer, Off Jalan Klang Lama.

The event aims to raise funds for charitable and welfare programmes that uplift underprivileged families and empower women across Malaysia. 

The gala will be graced by Senator K. Saraswathy, Deputy Minister of National Unity in the Unity Government. and the Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Malaysia, Mohamad Rizvi Ismail, as distinguished guests.

Over the past 19 years, since it was established in 2006, FOMSO and its member organisations have implemented a wide range of initiatives focused on education, welfare, and youth development.

“FOMSO is always committed to helping the community,” said Sarojini Pasupathy, Chairperson of the Women & Welfare Bureau. “Through education and welfare efforts, we aim to support people and build stronger communities.”

Among FOMSO’s key achievements are:

The Ceylonese Youth Connection, which links Malaysian and Singaporean youth for learning and networking.

Plans to organise forums on business, leadership, and work-life balance to inspire and empower the community.

Youth training programmes in leadership and communication skills, conducted in collaboration with Toastmasters International and other partners.

“By bringing together Malaysian and Singaporean youth, we are helping to build a new generation of leaders who value culture, teamwork, and global awareness,” said Santhy Pillai, Chairperson of the Education Bureau.

FOMSO also continues to strengthen partnerships and foster regional cooperation.

“Our cultural work is not only about preservation, but also about sharing resources and collaboration,” said Datuk Dr. Thanarajah, Deputy President of FOMSO.

The organisation works closely with:

The Sri Lanka High Commission in Malaysia, to strengthen ties and promote bilateral cooperation.

Government bodies and NGOs on education, health, and welfare projects.

Sri Lankan associations worldwide are to promote regional unity and shared cultural events.

The FOMSO Gala Dinner 2025 serves as an important fundraising platform to sustain and expand these impactful initiatives. The Management urges members of the public and well-wishers to lend their support and contribute to these community-driven efforts.
