PAGADIAN CITY, (Philippines): Six Army soldiers were wounded after unidentified armed men ambushed a two-vehicle military convoy in Tipo-Tipo, Basilan, on Monday (Oct 5) morning.

Initial reports disclosed that soldiers from the 45th Infantry Battalion were en route to the headquarters of the 1101st Infantry “Gagandilan” Brigade in Barangay Tabiawan, Isabela City, when they were fired upon while traversing the vicinity of Barangay Badja, Tipo-Tipo.

The six wounded soldiers were immediately brought to a hospital in nearby Lamitan City for medical treatment.

Brig. Gen. Frederick Sales, commander of the Philippine Army’s 1101st Infantry Brigade, told the Inquirer that the wounded troops were evacuated using a Black Hawk helicopter for further medical treatment at Camp Navarro General Hospital in Zamboanga City at past 9am. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
