VIENTIANE: Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited, Laos Branch (ANZ Laos) has officially opened its new office at the Royal Square Complex in Vientiane, marking a new milestone in the bank’s nearly two-decade presence in the country.

The opening ceremony, held on Oct 22, was attended by senior executives from the Bank of Laos (BOL) including the bank’s Deputy Governor Soulysak Thamnuvong, along with the Australian Ambassador to Laos, Megan Jones, underscoring ANZ’s strong ties with both regulators and the broader diplomatic community.

As the first international bank to operate in Laos, ANZ has been a committed investor since 2007. Over the years, the bank has evolved alongside the country’s dynamic economic landscape, adapting its business to meet the changing needs of clients and the market.

Today, ANZ Laos serves many of the top multinational companies operating in the country and is a trusted partner for international investors exploring opportunities in the region.

ANZ Country Head Singapore and Head of South-East Asia, India and Middle East, Chris Raciti, said: “Laos is on the move – and at pace. We’re seeing a reasonable level of interest from international investors and, as the only Australian bank in Laos, ANZ is well-placed to connect our clients to growth opportunities within the country and around the region.”

ANZ Country Head Laos, Bernadette Shaw, said: “ANZ has been in Laos for 18 years, and we’re proud of the relationships we’ve built here. We want to grow with our clients in Laos and across the region, and use the strength of ANZ’s global network to provide insights, advice, and opportunities to our clients.”

Beyond banking, ANZ Laos continues to play a key role in uplifting the local financial sector by actively participating in financial sector working groups to help shape policy and drive sector-wide improvements.

In addition, ANZ Laos is deeply committed to supporting the community through initiatives like MoneyMinded, the Bank’s flagship financial literacy programme.

The new office reflects ANZ’s ongoing commitment to delivering international banking standards in Laos and supporting the country’s development through strategic partnerships, client-focused solutions, and community engagement. - Vientiane Times/ANN
