Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in Malaysia to attend 47th Asean Summit


KUALA LUMPUR: Brunei Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, who departed on Friday (Oct 24) for Malaysia to attend the 47th Asean Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur, upon arrival at Subang Air Base, was greeted by Minister of Higher Education, Malaysia Datuk Seri Diraja Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.

Accompanying His Majesty was Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Datuk Seri Setia Dr Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs II Datuk Seri Setia Erywan Mohd Yusof, Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr RomaizahMohd Salleh and Acting High Commissioner of Brunei to Malaysia Mohd Aizul Hakim Suyoi were also present.

His Majesty proceeded to walk past the static guard of honour mounted by the First Battalion, Royal Rangers Regiment. Malaysia, as the Chair of Asean this year, gives emphasis to Asean’s shared progress in ensuring that no one is left behind, and underscoring Asean’s commitment towards strengthening regional peace, stability and prosperity within an inclusive, sustainable and future-oriented framework.

While in Kuala Lumpur, His Majesty will also attend a Get-Together Ceremony with students as well as citizens and residents of Brunei who are in Malaysia. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
