4.7-magnitude earthquake jolts northern Philippines

MANILA: A 4.7-magnitude earthquake jolted Ilocos Norte in the northern Philippines on Saturday evening, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

In its latest update, Phivolcs said the quake, which was of tectonic origin, occurred at 6.50pm.

Its epicentre was spotted 9km northwest of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, with a depth of 10km.

Intensity II was reported in Pasuquin and Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte.

No aftershocks nor damage to properties are expected from the tremor. — Philippine Daily Inquirer/Asia News Network
