NEW DELHI: On October 13, 2025, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India, met with Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, the President of Mongolia, who is paying a state visit to India.
Jaishankar congratulated Khurelsukh on his visit, which marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and India. He emphasised that the government and people of India attach great importance to this historic milestone and warmly welcome the Mongolian delegation in a spirit of friendship.
Khurelsukh reaffirmed that India is Mongolia’s “third neighbor” and a spiritual partner in the Indo-Pacific region. He expressed Mongolia’s commitment to further expanding the scope of the Strategic Partnership and deepening cooperation at both regional and international levels.
The President also underlined the importance of strengthening the work of the Intergovernmental Commission and expressed gratitude to Jaishankar, who serves as the Chairman of the Indian Section of the Commission, for his efforts in advancing major bilateral projects and programmes.
Jaishankar briefed President Khurelsukh on ongoing and upcoming projects being implemented under bilateral cooperation frameworks.
Jaishankar holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delhi and a master’s and doctorate in international relations from Jawaharlal Nehru University. Over his distinguished diplomatic career, he has served in Moscow, Washington, Colombo, Budapest and Tokyo, and as Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Singapore, China and the United States.
He later served as Foreign Secretary from 2015 to 2018 and has been Minister of External Affairs since 2019. Jaishankar is also a member of the Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of the Indian Parliament. - Go Go Mongolia/ANN
