CEBU CITY, Philippines: The earthquake-weary residents of Cebu were again roused out of sleep by a strong earthquake past 1 a.m. Monday (Oct 13).
A magnitude 6 earthquake struck at 1:06 a.m. some 14 kilometres south-west of Bogo City, which is still suffering from the devastation caused by the deadly magnitude 6.9 quake that hit the city on September 30, which left at least 71 people dead in northern Cebu localities, 32 of whom were from Bogo.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the pre-dawn quake, which had a depth focus of 10 kilometres, was felt at Intensity 5 in Villaba, Leyte; and at Intensity 4 in the cities of Cebu, Danao, Argao and Talisay and the town of Asturias, all in Cebu; in the towns of Isabel, Leyte, Hilongos and Abuyog and Ormoc City in Leyte province; and in Hinunangan, Southern Leyte.
The city government of Bogo, on its Facebook page, immediately announced that its emergency mobile phone number— 09456852435—remained open to accept calls for assistance, while enjoining residents to “take care always and keep on praying.” - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
