GENEVA, (Bernama-Xinhua): While the world is smoking less, tobacco still hooks one in five adults worldwide, causing millions of preventable deaths every year, and e-cigarettes are fuelling a new wave of nicotine addiction, according to a report released by the World Health Organisation (WHO) on Monday, reported Xinhua.

The number of tobacco users has dropped from 1.38 billion in 2000 to 1.2 billion in 2024. Since 2010, the number of people using tobacco has fallen by 120 million, a 27 per cent drop in relative terms, according to the report.
