PHNOM PENH: Cambodia will highlight its enduring commitment to peace, sustainable development and multilateral cooperation as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn leads a high-level delegation to the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York from September 23–29, 2025.
The session, convened under the theme “Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights”, marks eight decades of global engagement for the UN.
"During the General Debate, Sokhonn will deliver Cambodia's national statement, outlining the Kingdom's enduring commitment to peace, sustainable development, multilateral cooperation, the promotion and protection of human dignity, cybersecurity and climate resilience,” said a foreign ministry press release.
Cambodia is expected to underscore its priorities in peace-building and the promotion and protection of human dignity, as well as pressing issues such as cybersecurity and climate resilience.
Sokhonn will reaffirm Cambodia’s readiness to work closely with the international community to tackle common challenges.
“Cambodia stands in solidarity with the global community in renewing its unwavering commitment to peace, inclusive development and the safeguarding of human rights,” added the press release.
On the sidelines of the General Debate, Sokhonn is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with UN secretary-general António Guterres, foreign counterparts and senior officials from international organisations.
These discussions are expected to strengthen diplomatic ties and enhance both bilateral and multilateral partnerships, reinforcing Cambodia’s role as a constructive player in regional and global affairs.
As climate threats intensify and cybersecurity challenges grow, Cambodia aims to position itself as a responsible partner in advancing cooperative solutions.
The government has also reaffirmed that its path forward is guided by sustainable development, inclusivity, and respect for human dignity.
