VIENTIANE: Preparations for celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic are well underway, with the Public Security forces holding parade practices at the People’s Security Academy.

Deputy Minister of Public Security and Head of the General Department of Politics, Major General Khonsavanh Somphaxay, last week inspected the training to ensure that all preparations were carried out properly.

The inspection reflected the government’s strong emphasis on ensuring the historic celebrations on December 2 will be marked by discipline, precision and enthusiasm.

The parade, the key highlight of the upcoming commemoration, will feature six groups – the national and party flag group, the Public Security victory flag group, the police force, the mobile protection force, the central protection force and the female riot police group. A total of 926 personnel, including 145 women, will take part in the parade.

The Deputy Director of the Security Academy and supervisor of the practice, Colonel Veisouk Phommachanh, said the training has continued rigorously since it began on April 28. He emphasised that the preparations were aimed at creating a vibrant atmosphere for the golden jubilee of the Lao People's Democratic Republic’s founding.

During his visit, Major General Khonsavanh praised the trainers and students for their dedication despite challenges such as limited time, equipment shortages, and difficult weather conditions.

He urged them to maintain their momentum, address the remaining shortcomings, and uphold the high standards expected for this historic national celebration.

With less than three months to go for the anniversary, the Public Security forces continue to refine their drills to ensure that the parade will be a proud symbol of discipline, unity and the achievements of the Lao people over the past five decades. - Vientiane Times/ANN
