Unauthorised meat seized from house in Brunei

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Enforcement Officers of the Halal Food Control Division, Syariah Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) seized 39.8 kilogrammes of raw chicken wings from a house in Belait, believed to have been brought into the country without a Halal Import Permit.

During the operation jointly conducted with the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) on Thursday, the contraband was found stored at the house in the STKRJ Mumong area, Belait District.

The raw chicken wings were confiscated and the case was handed over to the RCED.

The MoRA extended its appreciation to the public for sharing information regarding activities involving meat of questionable halal status.

The MoRA added the importation of raw meat into the country must be accompanied by a Halal Import Permit issued by the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, in addition to complying with the requirements set by the relevant agencies. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
