All bodies of Kalimantan helicopter crash victims found

JAKARTA: A joint search and rescue (SAR) team has recovered all the bodies of the victims of the Eastindo Air helicopter crash in Emil Baru village, Tanah Bumbu regency, South Kalimantan. There were no survivors from the crash.

The EC BK117-D3 helicopter was carrying eight people on board when it lost contact with air traffic control just eight minutes after taking off from the Gusti Sjamsir Alam Airport in Kotabaru regency, South Kalimantan, at around 8:46am on Monday.

The aircraft was en route to Tjilik Riwut Airport in Palangkaraya, the provincial capital of Central Kalimantan.

“All bodies have been recovered from the helicopter crash site this morning,” said Cdre. Yudhi Bramantyo of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) at the evacuation command post in Emil Baru village on Thursday (Sept 4) afternoon.

Seven bodies were found and recovered on Thursday morning. One body was found on Wednesday afternoon at 3:53pm local) about 100m from the helicopter’s wreckage. - The Jakarta Post/ANN
