Chinese vice-president meets Nepali prime minister, Myanmar's acting president

BEIJING: Chinese Vice President Han Zheng on Tuesday (Sept 2) separately met here with Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Min Aung Hlaing, acting president of Myanmar.

The two leaders are in China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit 2025, as well as commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

In the meeting with Oli, Han said China is ready to work with Nepal to implement the important consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, continue to advance their strategic cooperative partnership, and bring greater benefits to the peoples of both countries.

Speaking highly of the Global Governance Initiative (GGI) proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, Oli said Nepal is ready to strengthen cooperation with China, implement projects under the Belt and Road Initiative, and advance the in-depth development of bilateral relations.

In the meeting with Min Aung Hlaing, Han expressed China's readiness to work with Myanmar to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, and to further promote the sound and stable development of bilateral relations.

Min Aung Hlaing thanked China for its prompt assistance after Myanmar was hit by earthquakes.

He also said that Myanmar supports the GGI proposed by President Xi and is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in various fields to advance the building of a Myanmar-China community with a shared future. - Xinhua
