Hanoi increases bus, metro services to serve National Day parade on Monday (Sept 1)

HANOI (Vietnam News/ANN): The two metro lines in Hanoi will operate continuously from Monday (Sept 1) until early morning of Tuesday to meet travel demand expected to surge as people flock to Hanoi streets to witness the official National Day parade.

After that, trains of the Cat Linh – Ha Dong and Nhon – Hanoi Station routes will continue running from 4:30am on Sept. 2, Director of the Hanoi Transport Management and Operation Center Thai Ho Phuong said on Sunday.

They will operate with a six-minute interval during 4:30–7:30am and 11 a.m. –2:30pm., and a 10-minute interval during other times. Services will pause between 3:10am and 4:30am for technical checks.

Mobile ticket counters will be added on the first and second floors of metro stations to serve passengers and prevent congestion, he noted.

Meanwhile, bus services to the two metro lines' starting and ending terminals will be extended until midnight of Sept. 1 and begin earlier than usual on Sept. 2 morning to serve passengers boarding the railways to enjoy the parade.

Monitoring personnel will also be arranged at the metro lines' terminals and the bus transit stations of Long Bien and Hao Nam to provide timely bus services after the National Day ceremony concludes.

To ensure better services, the center has also proposed the municipal Construction Department and the Hanoi Metro Co. Ltd to deploy more staff to metro and bus stations to take necessary actions when the passenger volume soars. - Vietnam News/ANN
