BEIJING: China's trade representative Li Chenggang (pic) is in Washington this week for discussions with US officials, according to the Chinese commerce ministry on Thursday (Aug 28).

Li will meet with officials in Washington after leading a delegation to Canada from August 24 to 27, ministry spokesperson He Yongqian said during a regular news conference.

Li is expected to travel to Washington this week to meet US officials, a US government spokesperson said earlier this week, adding that the visit was not part of a formal negotiating session. - Reuters
