Plogging event in Brunei highlights employees' volunteering spirit

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Standard Chartered Brunei, through its Recreational Club (SCBRC), organised a ‘plogging’ activity at Bukit Sipatir aimed at promoting environmental responsibility and employee wellness.

The initiative brought together more than 10 staff members who participated in a hike while collecting litter along the trail. The group started at one of the steeper access points and made their way through the forested path, gathering litter such as plastic bottles, wrappers and other discarded items.

The effort resulted in the collection of six full bags of rubbish, all of which were brought back down for proper disposal. The activity reflects the bank’s broader commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, encouraging staff to volunteer in initiatives that contribute to the local community and environment.

Chairman of the Standard Chartered Brunei Recreational Club Dk Sri Zarith Mohamed said, “This activity reflects our values of teamwork, responsibility and care for the environment. We are proud to support meaningful initiatives that promote both environmental awareness and staff engagement through the bank’s key driver of employee volunteering.”

The plogging session is part of a series of volunteering, wellness and community-focused programmes organised throughout the year. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
