BEIJING: China accused the Philippines of "adopting wrong and provocative words and deeds" related to Taiwan that it firmly opposes, the foreign ministry said on Friday (Aug 8).
In a statement, the ministry cited a report that the Philippine leader had said it could not stay out of the matter in case of a confrontation between China and the United States over Taiwan.
Beijing views democratically-governed Taiwan as its territory, a claim Taipei rejects.
The Philippine embassy in Beijing did not immediately respond to a request for comment. - Reuters
