Brunei walkathon marks royal birthday, promotes healthy lifestyle

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Mukim Kota Batu Consultative Council organised a walkathon on Aug 4 in conjunction with Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah's 79th birthday celebration. Village Head of Kampong Sungai Besar, Kampong Serdang and Kampong Sungai Belukut Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Zaini Damit, as the event secretary said, “The recreation activity is also in support of the country’s aspiration to promote a healthy lifestyle by diversifying recreational sports activities including the walkathon.”

He said the walkathon acts as a platform to strengthen family ties and bond between the younger generation and the seniors. Legislative Council member and Village Head of Kampong Subok Lawi Lamat, the guest of honour, officiated the event.
