Marcos appoints Nafarrete as Philippine Army chief

MANILA: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr on Thursday (July 31) named Lieutenant General Antonio Nafarrete as the new Commanding General of the Philippine Army.

Nafarrete succeeds Lieutenant General Roy Galido, who will be conferred the Presidential Legion of Honor Award in recognition of his service and dedication during a change of command ceremony in Taguig City.

The new Army commanding general previously served as chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) Western Mindanao Command in November 2024.

In addition, Nafarrete held key leadership positions in the 1101st Infantry Brigade, the 11th Infantry Division, and the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, J3, of the AFP. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
