Cricket will be part of the 2026 Asian Games, says ACC


NEW DELHI (Bernama) : Cricket will be part of the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has announced.

The announcement was made during the ACC’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), held in Dhaka, Bangladesh on Thursday. 

In a statement, ACC said 10 men's and eight women's teams will participate in the Games, selected based on their rankings from across the continent.

The 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou marked cricket's return to the continental event after nine years.

The annual meeting welcomed Mongolia, Uzbekistan, and the Philippines as new members of the ACC.

Representatives from all member nations participated in the meeting either physically or virtually.

The meeting was chaired by ACC President and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who was warmly welcomed on arrival in Dhaka on Wednesday by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam.
