Laos aims for 70 per cent forest cover to secure greener future

VIENTIANE (Xinhua): Laos continues its efforts to protect the environment and build a better future for the next generation by emphasising the vital role of forests in supporting livelihoods and mobilising people nationwide to help the government achieve its target of restoring forest cover to 70 per cent of the country's land area.

To mark Laos' National Arbor Day on June 1, tree planting ceremonies will take place across the country. The National Arbor Day aims to raise public awareness, especially among youth, about the importance of forests and their sustainable use.
